How Do You Protect Your Mind?

How Do You Protect Your Mind?

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”(1 Peter 5:8)

Satan attacks the most vulnerable place in us, our Mind. He attacks our thoughts and emotions resulting in depression, pain, suspicion, self-pity, stubbornness, misunderstanding. A person effected in the mind cannot progress much. He becomes crippled. Some of the ways how satan works are;

  1. He uses all your past life and hurts and keeps reminding you which crushes your spirit.
  2. He works through your loved ones and bring you hurt.
  3. He keeps telling you all discouraging words like ‘what do you think of yourself, you cannot do it, you are not worthy enough, you can never make it, your will life will be miserable forever, you are never going to have financial breakthrough, God doesn’t love you anymore, etc.’

If you are constantly bombarded with these types of thoughts, know that the devil is attacking your mind.

So how can we protect ourselves from the schemes of the devil?  The Bible says in Ephesians 6:10-18 to “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

  1. Renew your mind (Romans 12:1-2): Old ideas, opinions, world views must be replaced with the scripture. Fill your mind with the word of God. Be persistent in prayer.
  2. Sing Praises to God (Isaiah 61:3): Praise and worship have tremendous power. When you praise God, your heaviness will be lifted away from you.
  3. Reject doubts that arise from circumstances (Peter 1:8-9): Never give yourself into negative thoughts. Speak the words of faith.
  4. Remember that victory is already accomplished (2 Corinthians 5:17): The defeat of satan by our Lord Jesus Christ is complete. The victory is already achieved. Now it’s our responsibility to exercise the victory. The Devil can have grip on you, only when you give him. Exercise your authority and kick him out.

Prayer:

Father, cover my mind with the helmet of salvation reminding me constantly that I am your child and the enemy cannot mess with me. Fix my thoughts on you alone. Help me to think what is right, pure and praiseworthy. In Jesus name, Amen.

The LORD Is Faithful, Always…!!

The LORD Is Faithful, Always…!!

“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” Psalm 77:11

Bible speaks about Israelites that though the Lord performed many miracles amidst of them, they often failed to trust Him. They had witnessed the ten plagues, the parting of Red Sea, the protection of the Lord as a pillar of cloud in the day and a pillar of fire in the night. But every time they face a new challenge, they would forget the old miracles and choose not to trust God.

Recently, I was asking God for certain things and I became so anxious and desperate. One day, the Holy Spirit inspired me to open and read my old personal diary from the beginning. I was amazed to see how much God had strengthened me during my tough times, how many times He had protected me and answered my prayers. However, there are some unanswered prayers in it which I couldn’t understand why God didn’t answer those at that time. But after few years, as I see them now, God has blessed me with the things which are far beyond and better than what I had asked for. That moment, I got strengthened after recollecting all my previous journey with God. He always proved to be faithful.

Dear ones, our God is always faithful. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God’s plans for us are higher than our plans. He wants us to give the best. You may be praying for certain things from God and not receiving answers. You may be thinking, God is answering prayers of all other people, but not listening to my prayers. You may have come to the end of all hope, like how the Israelites came before the Red Sea. The Israelites failed to remember all the miracles that God performed in Egypt to bring them out.

Today, if you too are finding it hard to trust God, just recollect all the previous experiences with God, the times He carried you, strengthened and protected you, the times when He supplied all your needs. The God who carried you in the past, will carry you now also. The answer may not be the way you want, but God is always faithful. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” You just have to trust Him for your life.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for your son Jesus. Thank you for all the mighty works you performed in my life so far. Lord, whatever I am praying for now, I choose to trust you for your plans are to prosper me but never to harm me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Fear Not, The Lord Cares You !

Fear Not, The Lord Cares You !

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

God cares little things concerning us. Luke 12:7 says, “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Isaiah 49:16 says, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.”

Few years back, I was traveling back to my home for a vacation. The bus was scheduled to arrive my hometown at 5 AM in the morning. I had asked my uncle to come and pick me up at sharp 5 AM as the bus stop was in the outskirts of my town and it was not safe. However, the bus driver drove fast and dropped me at my stop by 4 AM. It was dark outside and the roads were deserted. My phone battery was dead and got switched off too. I was so scared and started praying to God for protection. But as soon as I got down the bus, I was shocked to see my uncle waiting for me already. While driving back home, I asked him wondering why did he come so early to the stop? He said, “At 3:30 in the night, I heard an audible voice calling me by my name to wake up and go to the bus stop. I tried to ignore and sleep, but I couldn’t. Finally, I gave up and got ready and came to the bus stop.’’ Listening to this, I was filled with tears thinking how much God cares.

God cares us more than we imagine. He wants us to depend on Him and trust Him for every little thing. What is that troubling you? What are you afraid of today? 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.’’ Do not try to solve the issues with your own understanding. Trust God in your fears and anxieties. He will surely rise to help you.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father, today I choose to surrender myself to you. I choose to lean not on my own understandings but trust you in my fears and anxieties. I ask you to intervene in my circumstances and deliver me. In Jesus name, Amen.

God Wants You To Clear It Out

God Wants You To Clear It Out

There lived a girl in a small town. She always felt troubled with one of her school teacher. For every little thing she would complain to her mother and the mother would go and bash that teacher. Ten years later, after she gave her life to Jesus, one day the Holy Spirit reminded her of all the things she did in her schooling and the hurt she gave to that teacher. She immediately repented and asked the Lord for forgiveness. She felt in her spirit that she needed to do something more. One day she met her teacher and humbly asked him for forgiveness for all the hurt she gave him. The teacher was shocked to see the transformation in this girl. She also testified to him that the reason for this transformation in her is Jesus Christ. Both of them together praised God for His marvelous deeds. The Lord, who saw her obedient heart, has blessed her very abundantly later.

Many times we hurt people with our words or our behavior knowingly or unknowingly. We apologize sometimes and sometimes we ignore it thinking it’s not a big issue. What is of least concern in our view might be a bigger thing to others.

The Word of God says in Matthew 5:23-24, “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.”

It is often easy for us to ask for forgiveness from the Lord but we struggle to take one more step and to apologize to the person whom we had hurt. It requires humbleness to reach that person and ask for forgiveness. God says to get reconcile with the person and then come and offer your gift the Lord. God wants you to clear it out so that He could bless you more.

Who is that person coming to your mind while reading this? If the Holy Spirit is convicting you to apologize to that person, show obedience and do it today. The Lord shall surely bless your step of obedience. Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” Luke 11:28

El Roi “the God who sees me”

El Roi “the God who sees me”pexels-photo-274014.jpegShe gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13 NIV)

“God of Seeing” – the name ascribed to God by Hagar who was alone and desperate in the wilderness after being driven out by Sarah (Genesis 16:1-14). When Hagar met the Angel of the Lord, she realized she had seen God Himself. She also realized that El Roi saw her in her distress and testified that He is a God who lives and sees all.

Recently, a very close friend of mine went through some tough situations in her life. When I met her, tears were rolling down from her eyes because of the pain she was going through. And when I saw her in that situation, I couldn’t control myself. I was moved and started feeling pain in my heart by seeing at the agony she was going through. While driving back to my home, I was distressed, thinking what can I do for her? How can I help her to bring back joy in her life. As all these thoughts were running in my mind, then at that moment, God spoke to me, “Being a friend, you saw her pain and couldn’t see her tears, and it moved you. She is my daughter, I love her and bought her with my precious blood. Imagine how much more it would have moved me?”

Dear Ones, this is the love of our God. When you cry out to Him, He moves with compassion. The word of God says in Isaiah 49:15, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”

You may feel like God is not looking at you. You are all alone in the wilderness and came to the end of hope. The Lord says this, “My Child I have not left you alone, I am seeing all that you are going through and I am here to deliver you.”

The same God who saw Hagar in a helpless condition and delivered her will deliver you too. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Keep faith in God. He will never put you down.

You Are Not A Rejected One!

You Are Not A Rejected One!

pexels-photo-325520.jpeg

Feeling rejected is the hardest thing to take. Everyone wants to feel loved and accepted. I have been abandoned by my father in my childhood. Through the years I developed a deep sense of insecurity, hatred and fear in my heart. I didn’t know that I was opening doors to the devil in my life. I was just covering the wounds with a paint of smile and a do good attitude on the outside. But the bruises were deep inside and I was unaware of it.

The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought hope in my life. I realized that Jesus paid for my sins and blotted out my curses and sickness on the cross. I don’t have to carry them anymore. I am now accepted and loved by the most High God. What a great relief it is!

Dear ones, are you feeling rejected and insecure? Jesus is the answer. Isaiah 53:3 says, “He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” Jesus himself went through it. His own people humiliated and rejected Him. Today you may be in loneliness, thinking that nobody understands you. But Jesus understands. The Lord is compassionate towards you. He loves you and will never forsake you. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Don’t carry your burdens by yourself. Jesus wants to accept you and shower His love upon you. Your family or friends may not understand you properly but Jesus does. He will never drive you away. Isn’t it a good news? What are you waiting for? Call onto Jesus now.

Just pray this prayer:

Jesus, Thank you for the cross. Thank you for giving your life on my behalf. Today, I ask for forgiveness of my sins. Cleanse me and make me new. Let your living waters flow in every dry area of my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
